ROCK POETRY
MARTINA FRYKHOLM
Martina Frykholm is a rock poet and artist who dares to challenge and touch her audience. With her broad cultural, professional, and musical background, Martina has created a soundscape that is both nostalgic and innovative. As a mother of three in Södermalm, she balances family life, professional life, and artistic creation, which is reflected in her straightforward, wild, and poetic lyrics.
In 2017, Martina released her debut album, 'Vart går du när vi sagt hejdå?' ('Where Do You Go When We've Said Goodbye?'), recorded at the Royal College of Music together with producer Mattias Viklund, pianist and songwriter Emil Ingmar, and violinist Knapp Karin Norrfors.
Martina's musical journey took a new turn when she met the Argentine Grammy-nominated producer Natalie Katten Knutzen. Their collaboration took her productions to new heights and led to Martina being discovered and signed by the record label Bark At Your Owner in 2024.

Martina was born in 1987 in Stockholm as the only sister among four siblings. Her home was rich with books and a strong musical tradition, including a grandfather who played both jazz and classical music, and a maternal grandfather who played the accordion in the spirit of Calle Jularbo. Music and storytelling were always present. Martina showed an early interest in language and society, with a good head for reading and a burning creative spirit. She spent most of her childhood and youth reading, listening to music, singing, writing, and acting. After graduating from the humanities program at Södra Latin high school, she traveled to South America to gain additional experiences.
Martina continued her studies in economics at the Stockholm School of Economics and complemented her academic studies with music studies at a folk high school. She has a professional career in statistics, analysis, and programming, but music and songwriting have always been her greatest passion. Her songwriting is based on stories about people and relationships, often with a touch of dark humor or political undertones, and is influenced by the Swedish song tradition, as well as by prog, punk, and folk rock.
